Brittany Hunter | Thursday, August 3, 2017The Harte family had their home raided when their tomato plants were mistakenly identified as marijuana by county officials. Now, after five years of attempting to seek justice for the state’s mistake, the Hartes are finally going to get their day in court.

The Second Amendment Belongs to Us All, Not Just the Police
fee.org > articles > the-second-amendment-belongs-to-us-all-not-just-the-police
David French | Tuesday, August 1, 2017As the law now stands, police are not only rarely prosecuted when they violate the Fourth and Second Amendment rights of innocent homeowners by gunning them down in their own home, it’s often difficult even to impose civil liability. Innocent men and women are left with no recourse, and officers remain immune from judicial accountability for their own, tragic mistakes. This is unacceptable, unjust, and undermines the Second Amendment.

The Southern Slave Economy Was Anti-Capitalistic
fee.org > articles > the-southern-slave-economy-was-anti-capitalistic
Luis Pablo de la Horra | Saturday, July 15, 2017Some economists have suggested that the Southern economy was mostly capitalistic despite being largely based on slave labor. To what extent are these conclusions accurate? Was capitalism the main cause of the economic, political, and social backwardness in the Antebellum South?

Why So Many Films are Shot in Georgia Rather than Hollywood
fee.org > articles > why-so-many-films-are-shot-in-georgia-rather-than-hollywood
John Tamny | Friday, July 7, 2017Taxes are a price, or a penalty levied on production. In that case it’s no coincidence that so many movies are nowadays shot in Georgia. Hollywood’s best and brightest seek the lowest tax price (or better yet, the best tax incentive) to maximize profits in an industry defined by shrinking margins. The Peach State is very competitive on the tax front.

Bill Wirtz | Saturday, June 24, 2017As the sharing economy develops, the opportunities for cutting out the middle-man seem endless. After Lyft and Uber revolutionized personal transport and Airbnb allowed us to monetize our own properties, Safarisource attempts to do the same thing with safaris.

Man’s Ingenuity Is Quenching the World’s Thirst

Marian L. Tupy | Monday, June 12, 2017According to conventional wisdom, a rising population must result in poverty and famine. Yet, human beings can innovate their way out of scarcity by increasing the supply resources or by developing substitutes. Human ingenuity, in other words, is “the ultimate resource” that makes all other resources more plentiful, including water.

What Was Lee Harvey Oswald Doing in Russia?

John Tamny | Friday, May 5, 2017Oswald was eventually allowed to remain. But rather than keeping him in Moscow, the KGB shipped him 400 miles away to Minsk. He wrote to his brother Robert that “I feel I am at last with my own people.” Or so he thought, or wanted to think. Oswald was plainly ignorant about the Soviet Union.

Why The Circle Is Such an Epic Fail
fee.org > articles > why-the-circle-is-such-an-epic-fail
Jeffrey A. Tucker | Tuesday, May 2, 2017In The Circle, the totality of the problem is that private enterprise, and actually just one company with a nearly complete monopoly, is the source of all problems. Sadly, the movie just ends up collapsing into a classic anti-capitalist screed that wildly exaggerates the power of business while completely ignoring the actual real-world problem of government intrusion in the digital space.

Even Anti-Capitalism Is Capitalism
fee.org > articles > even-anti-capitalism-is-capitalism
FEE Contributor | Wednesday, April 19, 2017Last week we had the dubious pleasure of witnessing two of the greatest PR disasters of the new year. First was Pepsi’s commercial showing white, rich fashion model Kendall Jenner transforming a civil rights protest into a fashion event, and then there was United Airline’s violent removal of a passenger. Unsurprisingly, these have breathed new life into almost-forgotten anti-capitalist theory and protest. But, crucially, yet strangely unnoticed by “anti-capitalist” writers and critics, all the “anti-capitalist” acts of protest are themselves part of the “capitalist system.”

Is the Fed Deadly, Life-Saving, or Just Useless?
fee.org > articles > is-the-fed-deadly-life-saving-or-just-useless
John Tamny | Sunday, April 9, 2017Booth’s story succeeds insofar as she provides nice tidbits of information throughout, but it provides little helpful economic analysis and frequently makes grand, unproven statements. Contrary to Booth’s assertions, the Fed’s existence will never add to the economy, but it may sometimes bring damage to it.
