Dr. Peter J. Boettke is a dedicated scholar and teacher of Austrian Economics. He is the author of several books on the history and collapse of the Soviet Union, and the transition from socialism to a market economy: The Political Economy of Soviet Socialism: The Formative Years, 1918-1928; Why Perestroika Failed: The Economics and Politics of Socialism Transformation; andCalculation and Coordination: Essays on Socialism and Transitional Political Economy. He is also the co-author, along with Dr. D. Prychitko, of the late Paul Heyne’s classic economics textbook,The Economic Way of Thinking. In 1998, Dr. Boettke assumed the editorship of the Review of Austrian Economics.
Dr. Boettke received his B.A. from Grove City College and his Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University. He is the Deputy Director of the James M. Buchanan Center for Political Economy, a Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center, and a professor of economics at George Mason University.
Outside of his teaching and scholarly interests, Dr. Peter Boettke is an avid sports fan, especially of college basketball, professional tennis, and the New York Yankees. He, his wife Rosemary, and their two sons reside in Fairfax, Virginia.
