Senate Passes Health Care

“The Senate early Christmas Eve morning passed its version of a health care overhaul, advancing the issue further than ever before in the nation’s history and setting up a bruising stretch-run early next year to get a final bill to President Obama.

“‘It’s about people, it’s about life and death in America,’ said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat.

“The vote was 60-39, with all Democrats and two independents voting for it and all Republicans present voting against it. Sen. Jim Bunning, Kentucky Republican, was absent.” (Washington Times, Thursday)
