Inspiring Young Minds for Liberty from Coast to Coast

The world of liberty is a bit bigger today following a successful series of FEE summer seminars that concluded August 7. In total, 692 people–high school students, college students, and young thinkers just beginning their careers–participated in programs that introduced them to the fundamentals of the economic way of thinking, the hows and whys of political decision-making, and the importance of character in creating and defending a free society.

FEE’s 10 seminars took place across the country–from Seattle to St. Louis to Clemson–making it easier than ever for students from almost anywhere to learn about the freedom philosophy. Among many other topics, seminars this summer explored the inextricable link between liberty and cultural development, the promise of free-market environmentalism, and the real scoop behind rising college tuitions. At FEE’s college seminar in Prescott, Arizona, students even had the opportunity to answer that age-old question about a free society: “Who will build the roads?”

An extraordinary faculty comprised of talented communicators and rigorous thinkers led participants through lectures and activities that challenged preconceived notions and inspired future study. Following the last lecture at each seminar, participants are invited to join the FEE Alumni Network, which connects them to fellow lovers of liberty and supports their future intellectual development. Alumni leave FEE knowing the end of the seminar is only the beginning of the life of principled leadership they are expected to lead.

Although this summer’s seminars are finished, this is no time to rest. FEE will spend the next few weeks evaluating and developing future programs that will enlighten even more newcomers’ minds. Applications for the summer 2014 series of seminars will open January 1, 2014. If you know a young person who has the potential to improve the world, refer them to FEE today.
