House Says No Earmarks for Companies

“House Democrats banned earmarks for private companies in a move that Republicans felt didn’t go far enough, reports The Washington Post. The ban would prevent no-bid grants going to ‘private firms that can afford to hire well-connected lobbyists to plead their cases.’ House Republicans are calling for an earmark ban on nonprofit companies, too.” (Reuters, Thursday)

Don’t think for a moment that the era of business subsidies is over.
