Dr. Burt Folsom is one of the best economic historians in the United States. For more than a decade FEE audiences have appreciated his insightful, lively, and humorous presentations. Readers of The Freeman: Ideas on Liberty can now enjoy his regular column on American economic history.

He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Pittsburgh and has taught American History at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Nebraska, Northwood University, and Murray State University.

Dr. Burt Folsom is a Professor of American History at Hillsdale College in Michigan. He and his wife Anita live in Hillsdale, Michigan. Their son Adam is a junior at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
