With great sadness, we at FEE report to our friends and supporters the passing of R. Nelson Nash of Birmingham, Alabama, who died on March 27. He was 88.

Nelson was the author of the bestselling book, Becoming Your Own Banker. A longstanding FEE donor and speaker on free markets and sound money, Nelson received our “Blinking Lights Award” in June at FEEcon 2018.

At that time, we published this piece about him. It includes a link to an article by economist Robert P. Murphy that explains the “Infinite Banking Concept” for which Nelson achieved considerable acclaim.

All of us at FEE extend to Nelson’s widow Mary and the Nash family our most sincere condolences.
