About the Role:
FEE’s website and substack publication, The Freeman, reach thousands of readers around the world. We are looking for individuals with an interest in building a career in journalism or editing.
The Freeman Fellowship is a new opportunity for a recent graduate to spend a year working with FEE’s editorial team, and have the chance to learn from the work of our colleagues in other FEE teams. We are looking for aspiring writers and editors, particularly those with a commitment to free market principles. The Fellow will get to build their experience working in a liberty-focused organization, as well as practical skills development, including writing, job searching, and networking.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily work of the Editorial team, including managing the articles publication on FEE.org, ensuring a steady flow of high-quality, relevant content.
- Connect with authors, and help with selecting content
- Opportunity to contribute as a writer to FEE.org or The Freeman
- Proofread and copyedit articles with strong editorial judgment, ensuring adherence to FEE’s style and editorial criteria (Chicago style preferred).
- Work closely with freelance contributors, handling contracts, coordinating assignments, and tracking deadlines.
Skills and background:
- Majors in English, Journalism, or Communications preferred but not required.
- Interest in and commitment to free-market values and individual freedom
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration at all levels.
Compensation:
Full-time, 1-year term (W2)
