About the Role
FEE seeks a visionary and data-driven Director of Marketing & Communications to lead the next evolution of our marketing function. As FEE shifts from a traditional media-centric model to a student-centered pipeline model, this role will build the systems, processes, and strategies that connect our digital reach with real-world participation in programs, seminars, competitions, and alumni initiatives.
This leader will design and manage a marketing engine that turns interest into engagement and engagement into action. This includes overseeing digital marketing, brand strategy, audience insights, conversion optimization, and cross-team coordination to ensure that FEE’s content, messaging, and campaigns support measurable student growth and long-term talent development.
The Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline & Conversion Leadership
- Build and maintain an end-to-end marketing funnel that tracks and improves how individuals move through the Liberty Pipeline.
- Identify gaps in the user journey and design strategies to strengthen conversion at each stage.
- Set and track the right metrics for a pipeline-driven organization.
Student Recruitment & Digital Campaigns
- Oversee campaigns—both paid and organic—designed specifically to drive student sign-ups for seminars, competitions, and other program offerings.
- Ensure FEE’s website, forms, landing pages, and CRM systems are optimized for clear, frictionless user experiences.
- Collaborate with the Analytics team to refine segmentation and automate communications across FEE’s core audience’s lifecycle.
- Provide strategic oversight over key digital channels, ensuring cohesive messaging, high performance, and alignment with conversion goals.
Audience Research & Strategy
- Develop insights into FEE’s core audiences (students, teachers, parents, partners, alumni) to inform messaging and program design.
- Create audience profiles and use data to guide decision-making around program growth and marketing channels.
- Monitor trends in education, talent development, and youth engagement to stay ahead of opportunities.
- Support AI adoption in marketing to enhance content, workflows, and audience targeting.
Brand & Communications Leadership
- Serve as the steward of FEE’s brand, ensuring consistency, clarity, and strategic alignment across all internal and external communications.
- Strengthen FEE’s brand as a talent-building and student-empowering organization.
- Ensure messaging across all channels reflects FEE’s values, mission, and strategic direction.
- Provide direction for internal and external communications so teams are coordinated and aligned.
Partnerships & Content Distribution
- Expand FEE’s reach by proactively developing relationships with peer organizations, education networks, influencers, and media outlets.
- Build systems to routinely distribute FEE content and program announcements beyond our owned channels.
- Work with FEE Studios and Editorial teams to ensure all content supports broader engagement goals.
Website and Technology
- Set strategic priorities for the website and digital user experience.
- Align marketing needs with technical execution led by the Associate Director of Analytics & Technology.
- Define requirements for landing pages, forms, and tracking to support campaigns.
- Ensure the digital ecosystem supports brand, conversion, and pipeline goals.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Serve as the marketing hub across departments to ensure unified campaign planning and execution.
- Translate organizational goals into concrete marketing plans, project timelines, and shared performance targets.
- Provide leadership, support, and professional development for marketing staff.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- 8+ years of experience in marketing, communications, and digital strategy.
- Demonstrated success in building conversion-oriented marketing systems or student/customer acquisition funnels.
- Strong understanding of digital platforms (email, CRM, paid media, analytics tools).
- Excellent communicator with experience shaping brand identity and messaging.
- Proven track record of managing teams and working cross-functionally.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to turn insights into action.
- Passion for FEE’s mission and familiarity with classical liberal thought (or willingness to learn quickly).
