Corporate Mergers Indicate Economic Optimism


“In a signal that confidence — and perhaps a bit of executive swagger — may be returning to the business world, two large mergers were announced on Monday, adding to a flurry of deals in the last month.” (New York Times, Tuesday)

In a mixed economy it can be hard to know if mergers have a true economic justification.
