To Free or Freeze

This work by Leonard Read is a critique of wage and price controls. These methods, employed by city, state, and national governments alike, are attempts to provide satisfaction to the largest number of people possible. However, Read points out that these efforts are not only immoral, but do not end up achieving their desired goals. On the contrary, such efforts end up creating unnatural shortages and surpluses, which in turn leave the economy unbalanced. Free markets on the other hand will eliminate such negative effects and truly provide stability in the long run.
