How Do We Know?

Leonard Read’s explanation as to why it is imperative that knowledge be pursued. Read’s exploration of knowledge and liberty are essential for understanding the foundations of a free society. The book is a warm and gentle invitation to readers who wish to learn more about liberty. The title might suggest a brief essay on epistemology, but this is far from the case. It is rather more of a modest testimony from a great man who has given his life to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding concerning individual freedom. Everyone from Roman poets to Enlightenment philosophers are quoted to great effect. Read was a master at marshaling the wisdom of antiquity for the modern case for liberty.
