Fuel-Efficiency Regs Spark Controversy


Congress hasn't raised fuel efficiency standards for passenger cars since the long-ago days of the AMC Gremlin and Dodge Swinger, but with gas prices above $3 a gallon debate rages anew over whether and how to finally act. (San Francisco Chronicle, Wednesday)

Great idea. Encourage more driving and make cars less safe.
