Flight From Reality

Clarence B. Carson, former professor of history at Grove City College, wrote Flight From Reality to address the prevailing wisdom of government intervention. Carson’s book discusses the negative blow that has been dealt to society as a result of government intrusion. Due to incorrect ideas of an attainable utopia, largely propagated by various writers, some people began to have unrealistic expectations of what goverment could provide to them. Carson regards individuals prone to this vanity as those on a ‘flight from reality’. Nevertheless, having been captured by the notion that this is possible, many people are still trying to legislate the way to paradise. Essentially, this work is a brilliant analysis of our intellectual flight from economic and political reality.
