FDA Authority over Tobacco Moves Closer to Reality


After decades of effort, a Senate panel has approved legislation that would give the top U.S. health agency broad regulatory authority over tobacco products, paving the way for further restrictions on advertising, tougher warning labels and lower levels of nicotine.
