What Fellows Are Saying
“The Hazlitt Fellowship, especially Dan Sanchez and the other great mentors involved with the program, helped me learn how to write and think more clearly and reliably. Partly as a result of my work at the Hazlitt Fellowship, I was able to land a job at the Cato Institute, where I have been ever since.”
Saul Zimet
2021 Fellow
Cato Institute
“The Hazlitt Fellowship made me a more rigorous thinker, a better writer, and a stronger commentator. It gave me the foot in the door I needed to go beyond being a fan of the liberty movement, and start being an active contributor.“
Hannah Frankman
2022 Fellow
Founder of rebelEducator
“The Foundation for Economic Education’s Hazlitt Fellowship was essential to my intellectual growth and development as a writer. Learning about the history, economics, and philosophy of liberty while maintaining a daily Substack prepared me to intern at National Review and, after graduation, begin my full-time job as an assistant editor at Reason magazine.”

Assistant Editor, Reason

The Legacy You’ll Join
The Hazlitt Fellowship honors Henry Hazlitt (1894–1993), who despite dropping out of college for financial reasons, became one of liberty’s greatest communicators. His “Economics in One Lesson” has sold over a million copies, and his ten million published words appeared everywhere from The New York Times to Newsweek.
Through this fellowship, FEE continues the mission set by its founder, Leonard E. Read: developing the “10,000 beacons” needed to illuminate the path to liberty. For 75+ years, FEE has been America’s original home of the liberty movement, and the Hazlitt Fellowship is our premier investment in the next generation of leaders.
You don’t need an elite pedigree or perfect credentials. Like Hazlitt himself, you need curiosity, dedication, and the drive to master and share the ideas of liberty.
