With the Obama Administration aggressively pursuing “comprehensive health care reform,” interest in single payer health care is again on the rise. But single-payer is neither a new idea, nor a particularly good one. In a single payer health care system, all health care is purchased by the government so that individual consumers no longer have to pay for their treatments.
