This week on Lawrence Reed’s podcast “The Reed Hour,” FEE Senior Education Fellow Kerry McDonald joined as a guest to discuss her new book Unschooled: Raising Curious, Well-Educated Children, Outside the Conventional Classroom.
McDonald’s book is the first mass-market publication on the topic of unschooling. Published by the Chicago Review Press, the book includes a forward by psychologist and professor Dr. Peter Gray, an expert in self-directed education.
On the podcast, Reed and McDonald discussed the difference between education and schooling, the definition and benefits of unschooling, disillusioned educators, nineteenth-century compulsory mass-schooling, the innovation era, and more.
