Evening at FEE: America's Future Greek-Style Fiscal Crisis
We invite you to join us on Saturday, December 8 from 6:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for an Evening at FEE featuring Daniel J. Mitchell on “America’s Future Greek-Style Fiscal Crisis.”
The burden of government spending has doubled during the Bush-Obama years, but that’s simply a downpayment considering the fiscal tsunami that will hit America in coming decades because of poorly designed entitlement programs. Absent reform, this will turn the United States into a Greek-style welfare state. In the best-case scenario, that means economic stagnation. In the worst-case scenario, it could lead to default and social chaos.
Daniel Mitchell currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC. He is one of the nation’s leading experts on the flat tax and tax competition. Prior to joining the Cato Institute in 2006, Dan spent nearly 17 years at the Heritage Foundation and served as an economist for the Senate Finance Committee. Dan’s work has been published in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, New York Times, Washington Post, National Review, and many other publications. He has appeared on all of the major networks and spoken to groups in more than 30 countries.
