You’re invited to join the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE.org) for the fifth installment of the FEE Online Town Hall Summer Series: “Free-market solutions in a time of crisis—a cleaner world for the future.”

With the mass social distancing being enforced by government and the lack of travel associated with it, many have pointed out that the areas with the strictest enforcement have seen significantly lower levels of air pollution in the weeks since quarantine began. Some have even speculated that the spread of COVID-19 is due to pollution and environmental degradation. Is there a relationship between COVID-19 and the environment? How can the free market align incentives in order to protect and conserve our environment?

Holly Fretwell, Vice President of Outreach at PERC, Randy Simmons, Editor of “The Environmental Optimism of Elinor Ostrom” with the Center for Growth and Opportunity and Professor at Utah State University, and Nick Loris, Deputy Director of the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies and Herbert and Joyce Morgan Fellow in Energy and Environmental Policy, will join FEE President, Zilvinas “Z” Silenas, to discuss these questions and more in order to better understand how free markets, proper incentives, and targeted regulation can ensure future generations get to enjoy the beauty of nature.
