“President Obama turned up the pressure on Congress to pass a new farm bill during a campaign stop in Iowa on Monday as he announced a new aid package to help farmers and ranchers struggling through the worst drought to hit the country in more than 50 years. The latest drought package from the White House would focus on the purchase of up to $100 million of pork, $50 million of chicken, and $10 million of both lamb and catfish products for federal food nutrition assistance programs, including food banks.” (USA Today)
