Web Development Associate (2017/2018 Internship)

Titles: Front-end Web Developer; Back-end Web Developer; Web Designer

The Foundation for Economic Education, founded in 1946, is the world's top destination for young people to learn the crucial role of entrepreneurs and the importance of free markets.  

FEE is looking for young people who want to make a difference in the world while building their technical skills in running a website with over 1 million monthly visitors.  

Interns will receive training on professional development practices and work with the latest responsive web application and cloud architecture technologies.  

FEE.org Overview:

FEE.org is a responsive website built with Umbraco and ASP.Net Razor with clean separation between front-end templates and code. The frontend uses AngularJS and Bootstrap. Architecture details.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Applicants should have some experience in web development, web design, or software development and strong technical aptitude. 

Experience in one of the three skillsets is necessary. Any further experience is preferred. 

Back-end Developer Requirements:

-- Experience with templating languages such as ASP.Net MVC Razor and programming languages such as C#

-- Clean code - take ownership of work and write maintainable C#/CSS/HTML/JS (no sloppy or lazy coding styles)

-- Can provide ideas and feedback to improve overall software design

Front-end Developer Requirements:

-- Experience with implementing HTML/CSS/JS from designs

-- Experience with responsive layouts

-- Good design sense -- can identify conflicting fonts, styles etc.

-- Clean code - take ownership of work and write maintainable CSS/HTML/JS (no sloppy or lazy coding styles)

-- Can provide ideas and feedback to improve overall software design

Web Designer Requirements

-- Must have experience designing for desktop, tablet, and mobile

-- Must have ability to incorporate FEE’s already existing styles and branding into designs

-- Strong sense of fonts and color palettes

-- All designs must incorporate FEE’s sensibility: classy, sophisticated, and credible. It must present itself as mainstream, highly-clickable, and shareable
