Overview

We realize that sending your high school student to an economics seminar in Rocky Mountains or Atlanta for a week could be a difficult decision for you. For one, taking the time out of your child’s busy schedule can be a sacrifice. And there’s the added concern of your child spending a week in a new place with a group of students they don’t know.

Let us put your concerns to rest. This summer marks the 48th consecutive year of seminars here at the Foundation, and we foster a robust culture of challenge and improvement. Rest assured that after almost 50 years, we continue to value the importance of safe learning environments, intellectually robust weeks, and built-in time for fun.

Though economics is not for the intellectually faint-hearted, we structure the week in order to maximize the return on your child’s time. This includes interactive learning activities as well as lectures from speakers accustomed to teaching high school aged students.

Students come away from our seminars inspired to make a difference in today’s world, and equipped with tools on how to do it. They leave educated in the fundamentals of a free society and sound economy, and connected to other students and faculty who share their interest and knowledge about freedom. Many make lifelong friends, and almost all report that their lives have changed profoundly for the better as a result of their week with us.

Before the seminar

- Our website contains answers to frequently asked questions, travel information, and seminar descriptions. This should be the first place you look for answers to your questions. If you cannot find the answer to what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us at seminars@fee.org. You can reach the Programs Department directly at 989-430-5078.
- Upon acceptance to the seminar, your child will receive plenty of important detailed information. If your child does not check his email regularly, we suggest listing your email address as the primary contact email.

At the seminar

- The majority of students’ time is spent in lectures and educational activities. Students eat catered meals with faculty and staff, and have roommates at their hotel or lodge.
- Students do have free time. In Atlanta, most of their free time is structured with FEE-hosted extracurricular outings. In Estes Park, students will have more time to explore in groups.
- Our friendly staff ensures the safety of students with curfews, and will chaperone extracurricular activities. During free time at the hotel, staff will be on site.

After the seminar

- Students leave with information and literature to help further their education in free market economics.
- Students are lifelong FEE alumni, and can benefit personally, academically, and professionally from the connections they make at our seminars.
- Thanks to the generous support of our donors, many students attend seminars for multiple years. Once your child starts college, we have many seminars for them to choose from, depending on their area of interest and expertise.
