The last Swine Flu statistics I saw (last week) reported less than 100 confirmed U.S. cases, and no deaths. Compare that to average annual statistics for Human Flu with 40 million - 50 million cases, and 30,000 - 40,000 deaths.(per year...in the U.S. alone!) And yet that is just a normal flu season. No cause for alarm.

And now there are rumors about some who support pork bans? It's a RESPIRATORY infection. You can't get it from cooked meat. Even the CDC confirms that.

Hysteria benefits nobody.

I think those in power are following Rahm Emanuel and Hillary Clinton's principle that no crisis should be wasted.

They are using this to further instill the "feeling" in people that the government is indispensable and is here to protect us and take care of us. Also to grab more power and control. A frightened population is easy to control.

They have brainwashed the majority of people in this country primarily via government "education" and popular media that government is the solution.

It is one thing to be aware and take simple precautions. They echo chamber hype is amazing.

I do not watch much popular tv (c-span and the weather channel suit me), but it is amazing--radio, tv, internet are all talking pandemic--I did a brief sample and each time I tuned into a news radio station, it was swine flu. I look at drudge report and it has multiple stories about it. I switch on Bloomberg tv and headlines and guests wringing their hands over it.

In a veto message by Grover Cleveland relating to a bill to aid farmers in Texas suffering from a severe drought, he explained that government "charity" will result in a population that will not be able to deal with problems as men, but rather as infants looking to government to solve all its problems. Boy was he right!

The majority of people today are scared little children that have never had to grow up and face reality. Actually, we all face reality--most choose to run away and hide in the skirts of nanny government.

This is a farce.

What should America be more afraid of? A Swine Flu epidemic or a Big Government epidemic? Well... if one contracts Swine Flu, it's more than likely that the person has access to medical care in this day and age. However, I don't know of any hospital to cure the contagious cancerous tumor that is Big Government.

Another "crisis" opportunity to expand central governmental power and thereby reducing individual responsibility and liberty. Tyranny with velvet bonds.
